India Announces 15-Man Women’s Squad for Asian Games; Kanika Ahuja gets first call-up

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-man squad of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team to participate in the upcoming Asian Games T20 tournament. The announcement brings good news Richa Ghoshwho is making a comeback after being banned from the ongoing Bangladesh tour.

The team also has new faces, with Titas Sadhu And Kanika Ahuja receive their first call. Now an experienced all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar is listed among the five reserves. Ghosh’s return to the national team adds depth and versatility to the Indian line-up. Her absence from the Bangladesh tour raised some eyebrows, but the BCCI voters have included her in the Asian Games squad.

Sadhu, the promising fast bowler, has impressed selectors with her performances in recent tournaments. Her remarkable display during India’s victory at the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup played a vital role in her selection earlier this year, claiming six wickets.

While some players have secured their positions, others have faced setbacks. Experienced all-rounder Harleen Deol has been placed on the standby list, indicating the fierce competition within the squad. S Meghanawho did not play in any matches during the recent tour has been omitted entirely.
