Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up about his verbal argument with Ravi Teja during the Duleep Trophy

Yashasvi Jaiswal is gaining more and more recognition and its reputation has been rising lately. After an impressive season in the Ranji Trophy last year, the left-handed batsman made a big impression in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

represent the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Jaiswal scored 625 points in 14 games with a strike rate of 163.61. His performances span a century and five half-centuries. This outstanding performance earned him a spot in India’s squad for the World Test Championship (2023) Final against Australia as a reserve player. He was then included in the 16-man Test squad for the forthcoming tour of the West Indies, which begins on 12 July.

Though the Suriyawan-born man has impressed with his temperament and skill, there was an incident during the Duleep Trophy last season where he lost his composure. During the last game between western zone And South Zone, on the fifth day, controversy arose during the first session. Captain West Zone Ajinkya Rahane sent Jaiswal off the field due to disciplinary issues.

Jaiswal had been given a warning by the referees regarding sledding Ravi Teja, but he continued to engage in a heated argument with Teja during the match. Rahane stepped in to calm the situation and tried to calm down Jaiswal, but the young player continued his sledding. As a result, he was eventually sent off by the captain.

Jaiswal, reflecting on the incident, said that he had not said anything overly inappropriate. He also acknowledged that there is some aggression in him that occasionally comes out.

“What is the point of talking about things that have already happened. Aggression is important and I am mentally aggressive. Sometimes that happens I guess. But I hadn’t said anything big at the time, but it’s okay, things happen. What’s the point of talking about it then. I don’t want to say anything. I prefer to keep it with me, absorb it like a sponge. If I have to squeeze it, I will’ said Jaiswal on the Lallant top.

According to the aggressive southpaw, sledging is very common no matter what level of cricket is played. He also said it happens to every cricketer.

“Whoever says that, it happens to everyone. No one really finds out. It depends on who says what. Bhai mereko koi mere maa behen ke bare me bolega, thodi sununga (If someone says things about my mother or my sister, I will not tolerate it),” The 21-year-old decided.

Speaking of Team India, after their loss in the WTC 2023 final to Australia in June, the Indian cricket team is enjoying a well-deserved break. They will soon resume their cricketing activities with a two match test series against the West Indies which will mark the start of their 2023-2025 WTC cycle.

The first test of the series begins July 12 in Roseau, Dominica. After that, the second test will take place in Port of Spain, Trinidad, starting on July 20. Yashasvi has been included in India’s squad for the two-match test series against the West Indies in July.

The test matches are followed by a series of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

This series against the West Indies will be an important opportunity for the Indian team to regroup and start their new WTC cycle on a positive note. They will try to bounce back and perform well in both the test matches and the limited overs matches against the West Indies.
