Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry looks forward to playing with point guard Chris Paul during the 2023-24 NBA season, who was traded by the Washington Wizards to the Dubs for shooting guard Jordan Poole.
Curry told Anthony Slater of The Athletic that Paul can help the Warriors return to the Promised Land next season. Golden State has won four rings and played in six NBA Finals in the Curry-Klay Thompson-Draymond Green era.
“The company is crazy,” Curry said of the Paul-Poole trade. “We all know that. If you had asked us six months ago if this was something that could happen, the answer probably would have been no, just based on where we were. Then you come in the summer and try to find ways to get better and put yourself in a position to chase another championship. Every team that CP is on gets better. That’s the most consistent thing about him, and who he is and what he brings to the team. Everyone goes talk about the age It’s up to us to put all that together and figure out how all the pieces work.
“You hate losing JP. I know it’s not quite official yet. So I don’t want to talk too much before that happens. But that’s the hard part of the business, seeing a young guy come into his own (and then get traded). It’s a great opportunity for him. It’s just that you get to know someone like that, build a friendship, build a bond. It’s hard to see him go. But you know, we’re trying to win next year and CP can help us with that.”

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists for the Phoenix Suns last season while shooting 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from outside the arc and 83.1% from the free throw line. The future Hall of Famer has never won a championship in his storied career.
It will be strange to see Paul play for the Warriors. In 2018, Paul’s fake smile for Warriors head coach Steve Kerr went viral on social media. Recently, Curry told Paul, “This isn’t 2014 anymore” during a game against the Suns in March.

Paul has a lot of history with Curry and the Warriors, but it looks like both CP3 and Steph are excited to play together. Golden State won the title against the Boston Celtics in 2022. Curry and Co. however lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals.
